CONVEYOR BELTING MATS

Repurpose the Conveyor Belt

Due to the shape of a conveyor belt, it is possible to reuse it as a liner, for example, as rubber car mats, access mats, stall mats, rig mats. This locks away any waste and gives rubber a new purpose, whilst requiring no further energy for processing.

One major environmental concern for the disposal of waste belt rubber is that many companies are simply burning it for its value. This then creates harmful greenhouse gasses and emits toxic fumes that pollute the air. Waste rubber left in wet soil can be responsible for leaching toxins into ground water. We therefore need to ensure that we are using rubber as safely as possible

Shop Mats

Commercial shop mats are required to protect concrete floors form heavy equipment. There are a number of industrial applications a good quality recycled mat.

The ability to create shop mats with custom dimensions would be a tremendous advantage and would enable NTRG to make inroads quickly in this market segment.

Rig Mats

The traditional wooden rig mat built with an iron I-beam have a surprising short life span. Manufacturers of these mats have had discussions with NTRG on the application of a rubber surface to the rig mat that would reduce wear and tear and increase the life span of the mat.

The typical rig mat is 8’ wide and so the larger recycled conveyor belts would be ideal for this product. Extending the life of the rig mats mean less trees would be needed to create new mats!

Commercial Truck Trailers

We have been approached a number of times regarding this application. Flatbed trailers have a wooden surface that takes on a lot of wear. The typical wide of the larger trailers is 8’ and so the larger conveyor belts would be perfect for this use.

A tough, durable rubber surface would help extend the life of the truck trailers that typically have a wooden deck. In doing so, the need for more wood for new truck trailers is reduced, making this a very green recycling story!

Stall Mats

We have been asked many times in recent years in provide ‘stall mats’ to retail chains and individuals. These mats are to protect the hoofs of horses and cattle mainly when they are in barns with concrete floors.

These mats vary in size from new 4’ x 6’ up to and a 5’ x 8’. These mats help to ensure good hoof health for the animals that often experience injuries from direct contact with concrete floors. Our location in central Alberta is a big benefit for opening up this market.

Because the processes that NTRG will use to recycle the conveyor belts and create these products will involve cutting only, the reduction in GHG and the carbon footprint compared to the manufacture of these mat products is very significant!
